Satino PureSoft: the hygiene paper of the future

Beige is the new green! Satino by WEPA presents a raw material sensation: Satino PureSoft is the first recycled hygiene paper with premium quality made from cardboard. Unbleached Satino PureSoft is luxuriously soft, especially absorbent and hygienically safe in all applications.

Cardboard becomes premium hygiene paper for the first time: a milestone in the development of environmentally friendly quality fibres and the result of intensive research and innovative paper technology at WEPA.

The new, high quality Satino PureSoft hygiene papers are produced from recycled cardboard without a bleaching process. This not only ensures visibly natural colouring, but also reduces the ecological footprint by an impressive 70% compared to virgin woodbased fibers. At the same time, Satino PureSoft is hygienic and safe in all applications, ranging from towel paper and toilet paper to kitchen towels.

Satino PureSoft represents a new level of sustainability and is the ideal model of a consistent circular economy by tapping into recovered paper qualities that could not previously be used in tissue products. Satino PureSoft simultaneously indicates a way out of the dilemma of the constantly growing volume of packaging as a result of online shopping.

Confirmed by consumers: sustainable and noticeably soft at first sight

Thanks to innovative processing, Satino PureSoft hygiene paper from Satino by WEPA is one of the softest natural-coloured papers on the market – and just as soft and absorbent as a luxury product made from fresh cellulose. Satino PureSoft is also dermatologically tested, making it a good choice for sensitive skin.

With its premium quality, Satino PureSoft thus distinctly refutes the belief that recycled paper is rough, hard, uncomfortable or even inferior. This is also confirmed by consumer tests: 80% stated they liked the product and 84% thought Satino PureSoft is very soft. 89% praise the sustainable concept and especially the aspect of resource-saving production without use of bleaching agents. The natural colour, identifying Satino PureSoft as an ecological product at first glance, is also well received by 78%. "10 out of 10 points!", "The toilet paper is firm and soft at the same time. It surprised me positively", "Completely convinced in terms of needs/quality/price/performance" – just a few of the comments from test persons.

Pioneering quality for proven applications

Satino PureSoft is the premium paper that combines the quality of high quality fresh fibres with the environmental friendliness of recycled paper. The product is available as towel paper in different variants – soft, absorbent and comfortable in 2-ply versions with Z, W or V-fold, as well as towel, Centerfeed and jumbo roll. The exceptionally soft and absorbent toilet paper and Satino PureSoft kitchen paper are both 3-ply.

For optimal handling, protected transport and safe storage, Satino PureSoft is supplied in resource-saving foil packaging; the thickness of the foil is only 25 my (25 thousandths of a millimetre), consists of 60% recycled PCR (post consumer recyclate), and is itself 100% recyclable. The ecological footprint of this foil is thus smaller than comparable paper packaging.

A raw material sensation – developed by the pioneer of paper recycling

For decades WEPA has been committed to a circular economy, thereby conserving natural resources and the environment. The core component of this is paper recycling: it enables the reduction of fresh fibre in hygiene papers and is thus an important factor in connection with land use, biodiversity and climate protection.

In view of the increasing scarcity of high-quality paper grades for recycling, it is indispensable to develop alternative raw material sources, not least to ensure a security of supply for hygiene paper and to offset any fluctuations in the market.

With Satino PureSoft, WEPA now taps into new recovered paper streams for tissue products thanks to innovative paper technology that also has the potential to replace fresh fibres from wood with recycled raw materials: this represents a new milestone not only for WEPA, but also for consumers and the environment.
