More than just a covering: our foil packaging

Even something (supposedly) unimportant can make a big difference. This is exactly the case with the Satino by WEPA foil packaging.

Packaging can't be done without – it protects and ensures the hygiene of our products and it simplifies their handling, transport and storage. Hygiene papers in particular are often exposed to the effects of moisture even before they are used, for example if they are kept in humid washrooms or cold storage rooms. Foil packaging is also a classic disposable product. However, Satino by WEPA proves that this does not have to be the case and that foil material can even protect the environment.

Plastic foil rethought

All Satino by WEPA packaging is always reduced to a minimum in order to conserve resources and save weight – as thin as possible and as thick as needed. But now the issue gains a new facet: all product lines (Satino Prestige, Satino Comfort, Satino Smart and Satino PureSoft) will soon be converted to foils with 60% post-consumer recyclate (PCR), meaning recycled plastic.

This packaging is again 100% recyclable – and its use ensures CO2 savings of an impressive 25%. Another reason for this good environmental balance is the foil's reduced material thickness, with the products still of course being optimally protected and safe. Overall, the ecological footprint of this foil packaging is smaller than that of comparable paper packaging.

Reducing packaging sensibly – an overriding objective

With a share of 60% PCR, Satino by WEPA is now the leader in its industry – and continues to work on reducing fossil raw materials. In 2020, for example, WEPA saved 200 tonnes of primary plastic in packaging across all brands, and in 2021 this figure had already increased to 1,020 tonnes. 8,000 tonnes are the target in 2025: an optimum combination of product protection and the protection of resources – which is typically Satino by WEPA.
