Back on the road: an interview with UK & Ireland Sales Manager, Ali Sharp

With less than a week to go until The Cleaning Show at London ExCel, we’re talking to UK & Ireland Sales Manager (AFH) at WEPA Professional, Alasdair Sharp, on what to expect from Satino by WEPA.

From sharing our most innovative hygiene products, to an exciting competition for visitors, we’re looking forward to showcasing what we have to offer.

How are you feeling about getting back on the road to see customers face-to-face?
It will be excellent; it’s been a long time. Since I joined WEPA Professional and started working on the Satino brand, I haven’t been able to see a customer yet – I’ve only been to two in-person meetings since Covid started. It will be great to see people and the wider industry. It’s important for us to showcase the Satino brand to the market, as well as WEPA.

Is there a standout product from Satino that you’re most looking forward to showcasing?
Yes, our carboard dispensers, which we’ll be running a competition with also. They’re a product that is an easy sustainable switch for businesses, due to being fully recyclable and they’re ideal for temporary use at the events too. So, I think they’ll be quite popular.

What’s in store for visitors when they visit the Satino stand at The Cleaning Show?
The stand is incredible. The effort and the time the marketing team has put in is brilliant. I’m fairly sure we’ll stand out as our colour scheme is quite bright. We’ll also be running a competition with our cardboard dispensers. Each day visitors to the stand can design their own and the winner will be awarded a £100 voucher.

Which products do you expect visitors will be most interested in and why?
Some of our captive systems will appeal to people because they’re not generic and are unique to us. They give people the security that no other papers or items can be put through our dispensers. Being a European company, we have some slightly different specifications compared to our competition, so there’s quite a lot that I think people will be interested in.

With more businesses seeking out sustainable options, what advice would you give when it comes to upgrading the washroom?
I would always say to people that you need to buy the most cost-effective and efficient system you can. Try to buy products and dispensers that give you longevity. For us, it would be our captive systems again; for example, our roll towels, which offer a much better cost-in-use for our customers.

What’s the one top tip you’d give to customers for maintaining hand hygiene standards?
Always have the full washroom facility available to anyone. So, within your washroom, you obviously have your hand towels, your sanitisers, your soaps – the whole package is key really. Without everything you can’t guarantee that people will keep their hands clean. It’s important to make sure you’ve got a full washroom solution, not just a hand towel but also a soap as well. Also offer sanitisers within the lobbies, reception areas and other communal areas. It’s vital to have facilities in place that enable people to clean their hands as soon as they enter a premises. COVID-19 still exists, so we need to make sure we are continuously maintaining good hand hygiene.

What else can you share about Satino’s presence at The Cleaning Show?
We’re sponsoring the free-standing hand sanitiser units across the entire show. Visitors will have access to them when they enter the show and they’ll be located around the booths. We’re doing all we can to ensure hand hygiene will be to a high standard at The Cleaning Show!
